Siam new Bangladesh ambassador to Philippines

The government has appointed Asad Alam Siam, the chief of protocol of the foreign affairs ministry, as the next ambassador of Bangladesh to the Republic of the Philippines.

A foreign ministry release on Sunday said Siam would be replacing current ambassador, major general (retd) John Gomes.

A career diplomat, Asad Alam Siam joined the Bangladesh civil service (foreign affairs cadre) in 1995. Before taking over the current position, he served as director general in charge of Europe Wing in the ministry.

He assignments include consul general of Bangladesh in Milan, Italy, and assistant high commissioner of Bangladesh in Manchester, the UK.

Siam also served in Bangladesh missions in Jakarta and Bangkok in different capacities.

Asad Alam Siam had his graduation in architecture from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). He also completed MBA from Maastricht School of Management, the Netherlands.

He is married and blessed with a daughter.
