Son sentenced to death for killing mother

A Kushtia court on Tuesday sentenced a man to death for killing his mother over family feud in 2018, reports UNB.

The convict is Jewel Sardar alias Jewel Rana, 28, from Angdia village in Daulatpur upazila of the district.

According to the prosecution, Jewel had an altercation with his mother, Banera Khatun alias Banu, over family feud on 22 September 2018. At one stage, Jewel hit his mother with a sharp weapon, leaving her dead on the spot.

Later, Jewel’s father filed a case with Daulatpur police station. Police submitted a charge sheet against him on 1 January 2019.

After examining records and witnesses Kushtia district and sessions judge Arup Kumar Goswami pronounced the verdict today.
