A Noakhali court on Sunday placed four accused on remand for different terms in a case filed over the 'gang-rape' of a woman in Subarnachar upazila, reports UNB.

Judge Nobanita Guha of the Cognisance Court-2 granted a two-day remand for the key accused Bechu Majhi while one-day one for Rubel, Arman and Raihan.

Besides, the court sent another accused named Fazlu, son of Siraj Mia of Uttar Bagya village, to jail when he surrendered before the court in the morning.

Inspector (investigation) of Char Jabbar police station Ibrahim Khalil, also investigation officer of the case, said a total of five accused have so far been arrested while three others surrendered before the court in the case.

The victim, a mother of six, was 'gang-raped' while her husband was tied to a banana tree at the Uttar Bagya village on 31 March reportedly following a dispute over voting for the post of upazila vice chairman during upazila parishad polls.

The victim's husband filed a case with Char Jabbar police station, accusing 12 people, including four unnamed ones.
