Sushma pained at killing of Indian girl in Dhaka attack

Indian external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj has expressed deep sorrow at the death of Indian girl Tarushi who was among 28 killed in Dhaka hostage crisis, according to NDTV.

The website of Indian television channel also said one Indian doctor and his wife were also among the hostages. “But were released as they spoke in Bengali.”

Sources in India's external affairs ministry said Tarushi Jain was an 18-year-old student at UC Berkeley who was on vacation in Dhaka. Her father, Sanjeev Jain, runs a garment business in Bangladesh for last 15-20 years.

In a tweet message, Sushma said she is “extremely pained to share that the terrorists have killed Tarushi, an Indian girl who was taken hostage in the terror attack in Dhaka.”
