Tarique faces arrest warrant

A Narayanganj court on Monday issued a warrant for the arrest for three people, including BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman, in a defamation case, reports UNB.

Senior judicial magistrate Milton Hossain passed the order after taking cognisance of a case filed by Awami League leader Akram Hossain Badol, also convener of Joy Bangla Muktijuddha Projonmo League.

The two other accused are UK chapter BNP president Shayesta Chowdhury Kuddus and general secretary Kawsar M Ahmed.

According to the case statement, Tarique defamed Bangabandhu and distorted the history of the Liberation War while speaking at a programme in London.

Different media houses published reports on the programme on 19 August last.
