Three Banglamail24 journos get bail
A tribunal on Sunday granted bail to three journalists of banglamail24.com, an online news portal, in a case filed for publishing a report on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s son and ICT Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy, reports news agency UNB.
This event comes right after the press release on Saturday by the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) urging Bangladesh authorities to drop all the criminal proceedings against the three journalists and release them immediately.
Cyber Crimes Tribunal Judge KM Shamsul Alam passed the order when their lawyer adv Priyo Lal Saha filed a petition seeking bail for them.
The three journalists are - acting editor of the news portal Shahadat Ullah Khan, executive editor Maksudul Haider Chowdhury, and reporter Pantho Polash.
They were arrested on 7 August by members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).
They were sent to jail after the police produced them before the court on Monday, 8 August.
