Titas rejects bribery report, Prothom Alo stands by reporter

The Titas Gas authorities have protested against a report, ‘Bribes by the kg in Titas Gas,’ published on 20 September in Prothom Alo.
A rejoinder signed by Titas’s public relations manager Golam Mostafa, termed the report as motivated and instigated by certain vested quarters.
It said that the report tarnished the image of the government organisation as well as that of the government.
It also said that the report aimed at harassing the managing director and certain other officials of Titas Gas.
Prothom Alo correspondent’s reply:
The rejoinder failed to point out any specific errors in the report.
The report was drawn up after lengthy investigation, and prior to the publishing of the report, statements were taken of persons involved in the bribe transactions.
Meanwhile, the Anti-Corruption Commission summoned two officials of the gas distribution company for allegedly acquiring resources beyond known sources of income, following the Prothom Alo report.
