Upazila vice chairman held in Comilla

Police arrested a vice chairman of Meghna upazila from Pararbandha area of the upazila on Wednesday evening on charge of creating obstacles in a government work.

The arrestee was identified as Md Tajul Islam,.

Meghna police station sub-inspector (SI) Md Saidur Rahman said Meghna upazila vice chairman Tajul Islam, also the organising secretary of upazila unit Awami League, created obstacles in the construction of a culvert in Karimabar area.

Anil Chandra, office assistant of the upazila project implementation office, filed a case against Tajul in this connection, added the SI.

Later, police arrested the accused from Pararbandha area around 7:00pm.
