A tribunal on Wednesday set 28 November for delivering its verdict in a case filed against former officer-in-charge of Sonagazi police station Moazzem Hossain under the Digital Security Act, reports UNB.

Cyber tribunal judge Md As-Shams Jaglul Hossain fixed the date after arguments from the both sides concluded.

Earlier on 24 November, Moazzem pleaded himself not guilty in the case filed for unlawfully interrogating deceased Feni madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi and recording it on phone.

The ex-OC was arrested on 16 June from capital's Shahbagh area and indicted on 17 July.

A video of the incident went viral on the social media, prompting lawyer Sayed Sayedul Haque Suman to file a case against the police officer on 15 April.

Moazzem had summoned Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa's principal Sirajuddoula and Nusrat, who accused the teacher of sexually harassing her.

The girl's mother had filed a case over her daughter's harassment.

The former OC interrogated Nusrat in the absence of her lawyer or any other woman and used inappropriate language.

Nusrat was later set on fire on 6 April at an exam centre, reportedly by people loyal to Sirajuddoula. She died on 10 April at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Moazzem was initially withdrawn and later suspended on 10 May. A tribunal ordered his arrest on 27 May after investigators found allegations brought against him to be true.
