Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) central president H M Bodiuzzaman Shohag at a press conference in Madhur Canteen at Dhaka University said, "If Gonojagoron Mancha spokesperson Imran H Sarkar can prove that the BCL men attacked the Gonojagoron Moncho activists, the BCL will ask for forgiveness to the nation, standing in front of Jatiya Press Club."

The press conference was called for pressing home the demand of arresting RU Shibir president Ashraful Alam and for the denunciation of Imran H Sarkar's 'false and misleading' allegation about the BCL men.

BCL central president H M Bodiuzzaman Shohag demanded that RU Shibir president Ashraful Alam, who was allegedly involved in the murder of Shaheed Suhrawardy Hall unit Chhatra League joint secretary Rustom Ali Akanda, be arrested within 24 hours. Otherwise, he said the BCL will call for a nationwide student strike.

In a written statement, BCL general secretary Siddiqui Nazmul Alam said the BCL does not have any communications with the Gonojagoron Mancha, so an altercation with its leaders is out of the question. Besides, the BCL maintains a good relation with the organisations having solidarity with the Mancha."

The secretary also said, "We have noticed a instability and unrest in the Gonojagoron Moncho as reflected in the newspapers." He also denounced the speech as 'false and misleading', which Imran H Sarkar gave about BCL central committee cultural affairs deputy secretary Sheikh Asman and former office secretary Nassim.

Among others, BCL central committee general secretary Joydeb Nandi, joint secretary Shamsul Kabir, and DU BCL president Mehedi Hassan were also present at the conference.
