Bangladesh registers record dengue deaths Tuesday

The country has registered five deaths from dengue, highest in a single day this year. With this, the death toll has stood at 31 this year.

During this period, 284 more dengue patients were hospitalised across the country. Of them, 224 were in different hospitals in Dhaka, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Presently, 850 dengue patients, including 711 in the capital, have been undergoing treatment at hospitals across the country.

The DGHS said the record 11 people died of dengue in August while the death toll as of 6 September has stood at 10.

Among the deaths, 13 were the residents of Dhaka, 16 in Chattogram, 15 in Cox’s Bazar and two in Barishal.
