Fire breaks out at a Chittagong hotel

A fire broke out in the basement of a luxury hotel in the port city on Tuesday morning. However, no casualties have been reported as yet, reports UNB.

Chattogram fire service officials said the fire broke out around 6.45am at “The Peninsula Chittagong”. The members of fire service doused within an hour and a half.

Shamim Ahasan Chowdhury, deputy director of the fire service, said, "Five fire tenders were pressed into service to bring the blaze under control."

"The extent of damage is yet to be ascertained. A probe has been ordered to find out the exact cause of the fire," he added.
