Truck runs over RU student on campus
A student of Rajshahi University (RU) was killed and another injured as a truck hit their motorcycle in campus premises on Tuesday night, reports UNB.
The deceased was identified as Mahbub Habib Himel, a fourth-year student of graphics design department, confirmed Pradip Kumar Pandey, public relation officer of the university.
The accident occurred in front of Shaheed Habibur Rahman Hall inside the campus, he said.
According to the students and eyewitnesses, the truck carrying construction materials hit the motorcycle from behind, leaving Himel dead on the spot. Another student, Romel, was critically injured in the accident.
After the accident, agitated students vandalised and torched several vehicles including private cars and trucks in the area. The students later blocked Dhaka-Rajshahi Highway demanding justice.
