Five Bangladesh nationals have recently been diagnosed with COVID-19 in Maldivian capital Male, according to the India’s Guwahati-based Northeast Now.

The Indian media outlet did not report any further details of the infected Bangladeshis.

“In Maldives, nine persons including five Bangladeshi nationals were tested positive of COVID19 today [23 April] in capital Male bringing the number of cases to 74 in the island city,” it reported on Thursday.

It also said the capital had seen the first positive case last Wednesday and has seen a spike of cases since then. Over 1400 people have been sent to quarantine to prevent the spread.
