Bangladesh logs 28 more virus deaths, 2772 new cases

Bangladesh has reported 28 more deaths from coronavirus while 2,772 more people have been newly diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

Additional director general of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Nasima Sultana, said this during a regular online briefing on Friday.

On the 146th day of detection, the death toll now stands at 3,111 and the latest figures take the total number of infections in the country to 237,661, according to the briefing.

Bangladesh first reported death from coronavirus on 18 March while the first case was confirmed on 8 March.

Across the country 2,176 more patients made recovery, Nasima Sultana said adding that so far 135,136 people have recovered from the deadly disease.

She said among the 28 victims who died in the past 24 hours 22 were men while six were women.

She also said a total of 12,614 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. Of them, 2,772 were diagnosed with coronavirus.
