Bangladesh records 78 more virus deaths, 4,636 cases in 24 hrs

The number of detected novel coronavirus cases in Bangladesh, according to the government, on Monday rose to 856,304 as 4,636 more cases were reported after testing 24,057 samples, including rapid antigen tests, in the last 24 hours.

During that time 78 Covid-19 patients died, raising the total deaths in the country to 13,626, said a press release of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Monday.

The rate of detection in the last 24 hours until 8:00am was 19.27 per cent.

The health directorate said a total of 2,827 people recovered from the highly infectious disease in last 24 hours taking the tally of recovered people to 785,482.

Among the Covid-19 patients died in the last 24 hours, 56 are men and 22 women.

Of the people died, a total of 14 people died in Khulna division, 23 in Dhaka division, 15 in Rajshahi division, 11 in Chattogram division, one in Mymensingh division, two in Sylhet division, three in Barishal and nine in Rangpur division.

Bangladesh detected its first coronavirus patient on 8 March last year and recorded its first death in the disease on 18 March that year.
