Bangladesh records highest 786 virus cases in 24 hours
One more patient died of coronavirus and 786 more people were diagnosed with COVID-19 infection in the last 24 hours as of Tuesday.
Additional director general of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Nasima Sultana made the disclosure at an online briefing on Tuesday.
She also said as many as 183 people have died in the country so far while 10,929 people test positive for coronavirus.
Meanwhile, the government extended general holiday till 16 May to tackle coronavirus which has already claimed 183 lives.
Nasima Sultana said a total of 5,711 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. Of them, 786 were diagnosed with coronavirus.
On the previous day, a total of 6,260 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. Of them, 688 people were diagnosed with coronavirus.
As many as 93,405 samples were tested so far.
Bangladesh first reported death from coronavirus on 18 March while the first case was confirmed on 8 March.
