Eleven more patients died of coronavirus and 969 people were diagnosed with COVID-19 infection in the last 24 hours as of Tuesday.

Additional director general of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Nasima Sultana made the disclosure at an online briefing on Tuesday.


She also said as many as 250 people have died in the country so far while 16,660 people test positive for coronavirus.

Meanwhile, the government extended general holiday till 16 May to tackle coronavirus which has already claimed 250 lives.

Nasima Sultana said as many as 3,147 patients have recovered from coronavirus so far.

She said a total of 6,773 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. Of them, 969 were diagnosed with coronavirus.


On the previous day, as many as 1,034 people were diagnosed with coronavirus.

A total of 136,638 samples were tested so far.

Bangladesh first reported death from coronavirus on 18 March while the first case was confirmed on 8 March.
