Bangladesh reports 549 new COVID-19 cases, 3 deaths

Three more people died of coronavirus in the last 24 hours taking the death toll to 155 while 549 new cases raised the number to 6,462.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) made the disclosure at an online briefing on Tuesday.

Eight more patients recovered in the last 24 hours taking the number to 139.

The DGHS said a total of 4,332 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. As many as 54,733 samples were tested so far.

Bangladesh first reported death from coronavirus on 18 March while the first case was confirmed on 8 March.

The global death toll from coronavirus reached 211,537 on Tuesday morning, reports news agency UNB.

So far, 3.064225 million cases have been confirmed around the world after disease was first reported in China in December last year, according to worldometer.

Of those infected, 1.930301 million are currently being treated and 56,300 of them are in serious or critical condition.

So far, 922,387 people have recovered.
