Bangladesh reports highest Covid-19 cases in 38 days
Bangladesh on Monday reports 1,970 more Covid-19 cases, the highest in 38 days, according to a press release issued by Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Earlier on 30 April, the government reported 2,177 cases.
With the latest cases, detected novel coronavirus caseload in Bangladesh rose to 812,960.
During last 24 hours till 8:00am, as many as 30 Covid-19 patients died, raising the total deaths in the country to 12,869, said the DGHS on Monday.
A total of 17,169 samples were tested in the day while the rate of detection was 11.47 per cent. This is the highest positivity rate in last 41 days.
The health directorate today said as many as 1,918 people recovered from the highly infectious disease in the last 24 hours, taking the number of total recovery to 753,240.
Bangladesh detected its first coronavirus patient on 8 March last year and recorded its first death in the disease on 18 March that year.
