Bangladesh reports highest virus deaths in a day as cases cross 30,000

As many as 24 more patients died of coronavirus and 1,694 people were newly diagnosed with COVID-19 in Bangladesh in the last 24 hours.

Additional director general of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Nasima Sultana made the disclosure through an online briefing on Friday.

With this, the coronavirus death toll in the country rose to 432 and the number of infected persons climbed to 30, 205.

Nasima Sultana said 9,727 samples were tested at 47 laboratories in the last 24 hours.

So far 588 people recovered from the deadly respiratory disease in the past 24 hours, taking the total recoveries to 6,190 since the pandemic outbreak in the country on 8 March.

As many as 225 more people were sent into isolation and 2,507 were newly quarantined across the country in the past one day, she added.
