Bangladesh will administer 40 million covid doses every month from January, said health minister Zahid Maleque on Wednesday, reports UNB.

The minister said, "We are taking the initiative to give vaccines in every ward of the country starting next month. Hopefully, we will be able to meet our targets by next May-June." The minister said this at the annual general meeting of BDCL at Dhaka Club in the capital.

He said a total of 280 million doses of vaccine, including booster doses, will be needed to meet the target. The government has made the arrangement of procuring 31 doses of vaccine.

"So even if we need 280 million doses of vaccine to meet our target including booster dose, we will have 30 million more doses of vaccine in stock," he added.

Maleque further said that Bangladesh has been praised by the world for tackling Covid-19 pandemic. About the spread of Omicron, the minister warned that vaccines alone will not contain the omicron surge. "We have to follow the proper hygiene."
