Bangladesh virus cases cross 260,000

Bangladesh has reported 39 more deaths from coronavirus while 2,907 more people have been newly diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

Additional director general of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Nasima Sultana, said this during a regular online briefing on Monday.

On the 156th day of detection, the death toll now stands at 3,438 and the latest figures take the total number of infections in the country to 260,507, according to the briefing.

A total of 12,849 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. Of them, 2,907 were diagnosed with coronavirus.

Bangladesh first reported death from coronavirus on 18 March while the first case was confirmed on 8 March.

Across the country 2,067 more patients made recovery, Nasima Sultana said adding that so far 150437 people have recovered from the deadly disease.

She also said a total of 12,849 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. Of them, 2,907 were diagnosed with coronavirus.

And today’s infection rate is 22.62 per cent.

Nasima Sultana said among the 39 victims who died in the past 24 hours 35 were men while four were women.
