DNCC fines over Tk 2.1m during anti-aedes drive
DNCC started the second phase 10-day combing operation on 4 July to destroy all breeding grounds of Aedes mosquitoes carriers of both dengue and chikungunya
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) found Aedes mosquito larvae at 898 houses and establishments and fined over Tk 2.1 million in the second-phase of its combining operation to eliminate mosquitoes, reports news agency BSS.
Stagnant water and breeding ground of the mosquito were found at 78,130 establishments including houses and under-construction buildings during the drive.
Tuesday was the last day of the operation, said a press release.
During the drive on the last day, the city corporation teams visited 11,934 houses and fined Tk 145,000, under construction buildings and establishments, a DNCC official said.
DNCC started the second phase 10-day combing operation on 4 July to destroy all breeding grounds of Aedes mosquitoes carriers of both dengue and chikungunya.
During the drive, the operation started from 10:00am and continued till 1:00pm every day except Friday.
The wards were divided into 10 sectors and each sector had 10 sub-sectors to make the operation successful, said the DNCC press release.
A team comprising four garbage management workers and one spray-man took part in the operation in each sub-sector, while 40 garbage management workers and 10 spray-men participated in each sector in the drive every day.
