The Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) authorities are set to test the efficacy of the rapid test kit invented by the Gonoshasthaya Kendra to detect the coronavirus infection.

The BSMMU authorities sent a letter in this regard to the Gonoshasthaya Kendra on Tuesday seeking 200 kits and Tk 435,000 as a cost for the test.

Gonoshasthaya Kendra founder Zafrullah Chowdhury revealed this in a media release. He considered this as a positive advancement in testing the kit.

Zafrullah Chowdhury said the BSMMU authorities sent the letter around 2:00pm requesting him to deposit Tk 435,000 in a bank for testing the kit.

“This is government expenditure. We don’t have any objection to it. We could not deposit the money today as we got the letter at 2:00pm. We’ll deposit the money tomorrow,” Zafrullah Chowdhury said.

He also said they will send the 200 kits to the BSMMU committee that sought those for testing by 11:00am tomorrow (Wednesday).
