Cop tested positive for COVID-19 after death

A police constable of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) has been tested positive for coronavirus after his death on Friday at Chattogram General Hospital.

The deceased was constable Md Noimul Hoque, 38, of Traffic Department (Bandar Division) under CMP.

Mahbubur Rahman, commissioner, CMP, told UNB that constable Noimul was admitted to Chattogram General Hospital with coronavirus symptoms on Thursday and he died around 1:00pm.

The sample collected from the deceased was tested on Saturday and it confirmed that he was infected with coronavirus, Mahbubur said.

Noimul was buried at his village home in Cumilla under management of police after Namaj-e-Janaja at Dampara Police Lines in Chattogram on Friday night, he added.

Constable Noimul is survived by his wife, two daughters, and a son.

Altogether, 2,382 police members got infected with coronavirus as of Saturday while 361 of them made full recovery till date.
