Covid-19: Bangladesh records highest death in month
The number of detected novel coronavirus cases in Bangladesh, according to the government, on Sunday rose to 826,922 as 2,436 more cases were reported, after testing 18,749 samples, including rapid antigen tests, in the last 24 hours.
During that time 47 Covid-19 patients died, raising the total deaths in the country to 13,118, said a press release of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Sunday.
This is the highest number of single-day deaths since 9 May. 56 deaths were recorded on that day.
The rate of detection in the last 24 hours until 8:00 am was 12.99 per cent which was 13.25 per cent Saturday.
The health directorate today said a total of 2,242 people recovered from the highly infectious disease in the last 24 hours, taking the number of total recovery to 766,266.
Bangladesh detected its first coronavirus patient on 8 March last year and recorded its first death of the virus on 18 March that year.
