COVID-19 in Bangladesh: Another 50 die, 2928 detected

The number of detected coronavirus cases in Bangladesh has risen to 207,453 as 2,928 more people were found to be positive, after testing 13,362 samples in the last 24 hours.

During that time 50 more patients died, raising the total deaths in the country to 2,668, said additional directorate general of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Nasima Sultana.

She said this in the regular health bulletin on coronavirus situation in the country on Monday.

The rate of detection in the last 24 hours was 21.91 per cent while the overall rate of detection of coronavirus infected cases in Bangladesh as of Monday is 19.92 per cent, Nasima Sultana said.

Of the people died in the last 24 hours, 35 were males and 15 females. Of the total deaths as of Saturday, 2,104 were males (78.86 per cent) and 564 females (21.14 per cent), said Nasima Sultana.

She said a total of 13,329 samples were collected in the last 24 hours. As of Saturday, the number of samples tested in Bangladesh stands at 1,041,661.

Bangladesh detected first coronavirus patient on 8 March and recorded first death on 18 March.
