Colleague remanded over murder of GCC executive engineer

A Dhaka court on Thursday placed Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) assistant engineer Selim Hossain on a five-day remand in a case lodged over murder of his colleague executive engineer Delwar Hossain, reports BSS.

Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Shahidul Islam passed the order as investigation officer and Turag police station inspector (operation) Sheikh Mofizul Islam produced the accused before the court and pleaded to place him on a 10-day remand.

Earlier in the day, the same court recorded confessional statements of GCC driver Habib and killer Shahin Hawlader in the case and sent the duo to jail.

The court also recorded statement of witness and rickshaw puller Rafikul Islam under section 164.

Delwar Hossain went missing on his way to office from his Mirpur home onthe morning of 11 May. His body was later found in the jungle beside the bridge-5 of Uttara Sector 17.

Delwar’s wife Khodeza Akter filed the case with Turag police station.
