Four arrested for storing COVID-19 test kits
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Friday arrested four people for illegally stockpiling COVID-19 test kits and protective gears and selling them at high prices in the capital’s Bangla Motor.
The arrestees were Anwar Hossain, Amit Boshak, Shoyeb and Shuvo.
Deputy commissioner (media) of the DMP Masudur Rahman said on Thursday evening a man complained that a trader of Bangla Motor took Tk 30,000 for 20 masks where the rational price was Tk 3,600.
Police promptly conducted a drive at Bangla Motor’s ABC Corporation and arrested them, he said.
Police also seized 275 COVID-19 testing kits, 9,050 face masks, 100 N95 masks, 198 PPEs, 960 hand gloves, 250 glasses, 900 caps, 1,440 shoe covers from the shop, Rahman said.
A case was filed against them under the Special Powers Act, the police officer said.
Bangladesh saw the highest number of death from coronavirus on Friday as 15 more people died, taking the death toll in the country to 75.
Besides, 266 people tested positive during the period, taking the number of such cases in the country to 1,838.
