The High Court bench that gave bail order to controversial contractor Golam Kibria Shamim alias GK Shamim, arrested during an anti-casino drive in Dhaka in arms and drugs cases, revoked its order on Sunday.
The HC bench comprising justice AKM Asaduzzaman and justice SM Mujibur Rahman withdrew the order that it passed on 6 February. The order came to light on Saturday.
Deputy attorney general FR Khan moved for the state in the court while Mamtaz Ahmad Mehedi and Shawkat Osman were the lawyers of GK Shamim.
Earlier on 4 February, a High Court bench of justice M Rezaul Haque and justice Bhismadev Chakrabarti granted one year’s bail to Shamim in a drugs case.
GK Shamim has been made accused in two more cases.
He was arrested from the capital’s Gulshan area on 20 September last year. A total of four lawsuits were filed against him.
Shamim moved the High Court after a special tribunal rejected his bail plea on 27 November last year.
