Army detains armed Jana Sanghati Samity man in Rangamati
Bangladesh Army Wednesday detained an activist of the Jana Sanghati Samity (JSS) from Bangalhalia in Rajasthali upazila of Rangamati for his involvement in “extortion and kidnapping,” police said, reports UNB.
The detainee was identified as Aunghla Pru Marma of Bandarban. He used to collect extortion money for the JSS.
Tipped-off, a team of 56 Bengal Army Camp detained Aunghla with a gun, two rounds of bullets and cash from the Chhagolkhaiya area around 10:00 am, Iqbal Bahar, officer-in-charge (OC) of Chandraghona Police Station, said.
Legal action will be taken against the detainee when he is handed over to the police station, the OC said.
