JKG chairman Sabrina arrested

Police arrested chairman of JKG Health Care Sabrina Arif Chowdhury on Sunday in connection with the incident of providing fake COVID-19 test results.

Harun or Rashid, deputy commissioner of Tejgaon zone of police, confirmed the matter to Prothom Alo.

Sabrina is the wife of arrested JKG chief coordinator Arif Chowdhury and cardiac surgeon of National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD).

Voluntary organisation Jobeda Khatun Health Care (JKG) got the approval from directorate general of health service (DGHS) to collect samples of COVID-19.

A DGHS press release on Saturday said JKG Group’s Ariful Haque Chowdhury went to DGHS with a proposal to set up booths and collect samples of coronavirus patients following the South Korea model.

Later, allegations of providing fake COVID certificates surfaced against the JKG group and police arrested five persons including Ariful.

After the news of fraudulence came out, Sabrina claimed that she did not have any connection with JKG. She even published notices in the newspaper in this regard.

Sabrina claimed she just volunteered for some days in JKG and stopped after allegations came out.
