LSD: Five students placed on five-day remand
The court has placed five students of a private university on a five-day remand each in a case filed on charges of being involved in the consumption and the sale of LSD (lysergic acid diethylamide) drug.
The chief metropolitan magistrate (CMM) court of Dhaka passed the order on Monday following a remand plea of police.
The five accused are Saiful Islam Saif (20), S M Monwar Akib (20), Nazmus Sakib (20), Nazmul Islam (24) and B M Sirazus Salekin (24).
Earlier, police produced the five accused before the court and sought a 10-day remand for each accused.
But the court granted police a five-day remand to interrogate them in custody after hearing both of the parties.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) of Mothijheel unit said, they have traced another 15 groups involved with LSD drug business and seized 2,000 microgram LSD, Ice and cannabis.
Earlier, the LSD stamps were found for the first time as the detectives were investigating the death of a Dhaka University (DU) student on 26 May.
Three university students were also detained in this connection.
