A man was killed in Charghat upazila of Rajshahi during a clash between two groups of drug peddlers on Sunday, reports UNB.

The deceased was identified as Shilon Ali, 30, a drug peddler, said Jahangir Alam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Charghat model police station. The incident occurred at Jhikra Joradarpara village around 3:30pm.

According to the locals, on Thursday drug peddler Samrat Ali claimed that some drug from his stock has been stolen and he blamed Shilon Ali for that.

Tensions had been brewing between the Samrat and Shilon groups over the incident, and things came to a head on Sunday afternoon.

Locals rescued injured Shilon from the spot and took him to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where the duty doctor announced him dead.

OC Jahangir Alam said a complaint has been lodged from Shilon’s family at the Charghat model police station in this regard.
