Pori Moni at DB office

Movie actress Pori Moni has turned up at Detective Branch (DB) office of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

She has gone there to provide the police with more information concerning the attempted rape and murder case that she filed.

She arrived at the office of DB (north) joint commissioner Harun-Ur-Rashid at 4:30pm. She is being questioned there regarding her case.

Pori Moni has been accompanied by film director Chayanika Chowdhury and makeup artist Junaid Karim Jimi.

The actress has filed a case at the Savar police station. Police on Monday arrested five persons in this connection, including the main accused Nasir U Mahmud and Omi. Later the police appealed to the court to take them on remand in a narcotics case.

Pori Moni told newspersons at her residence in Banani on Sunday that she had gone out on 8 June with her family friend Omi and makeup artiste Jimi. The friend took them to a club in Ashulia where he introduced Pori Moni to some men who were drinking. She said that one of them suddenly tried to force her to drink and then tried to rape her. They even beat up Jimi.

Pori Moni said that she went to the Banani police station to file a complaint after the incident but no officer on duty recorded her complaint. They told her to come in the morning to file the complaint. She took the police’s assistance in going to hospital, but was too scared and went home instead of getting treatment. The incident has seriously shaken Pori Moni and she has fallen unwell.

In a Facebook post on Sunday evening, she said that there had been an attempt to rape and murder her. In the post she appealed to prime minister Sheikh Hasina for justice.
