Pori Moni 'rape' case: Nasir, Omi among five arrested
Police arrested five persons including businessman Nasir U Mahmud and Omi at around 3:30pm today after actress Pori Moni filed a case with Savar police station over attempted rape and murder.
Joint commissioner of detective branch (north) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Haroon Or Rashid, confirmed the arrest of three from the Uttara area.
Other arrested are Lipi, Sumi and Snigdha.
DMP media wing’s additional commissioner Iftekharul Islam told Prothom Alo that police recovered drug from their possessions.
Dhallywood actress Pori Moni on Monday filed a case against businessman Nasir U Mahmud and five others with Savar police station for attempted rape and murder.
Of the six, two were named in the case while others are unidentified.
Earlier on Sunday evening, Pori Moni alleged that someone attempted to rape and kill her recently.
“I was physically tortured. Attempt was made to rape and kill me. I want justice. Where will I seek justice?”, she wrote from her verified Facebook post.
She later talked with journalists at her Banani residence on Sunday night and said she, along with her friend Omi and personal makeup artist Jimi, went to a club in Ashulia after 12 at night on 10 June.
Omi there introduced her to some persons who were drinking. At one point, one of them tried to force her drink alcohol and tried to rape her, alleged Pori Moni.
