A prisoner serving a life sentence at Kashimpur Central Jail-2 went missing after he was locked up on Thursday evening, said a high official of the prison.

Prison authorities could not find prisoner Abu Bakar Siddique inside the jail until 12:30am on Friday.

Abu Bakar Siddique was shifted to Kashimpur Central Jail in Gazipur from Rajshahi Central Jail after he had been sentenced to death in 2011. Later, on 27 July 2012, his death sentence was corrected to life imprisonment.

The prisoner is from Abad Chandipur in Shyamnagar upazila of Satkhira.

Speaking to Prothom Alo, the high official said Kashimpur is a huge jail. He could hide anywhere. Earlier on 13 May 2015, he was hiding in a safety tank in cell area of the jail. He was found after a day. That could happen this time as well.
