Rohingya drug peddler held with 600,000 yaba in Ukhiya

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive arrested a suspected Rohingya drug peddler along with 600,000 yaba pills from Ukhia Upazila in Cox’s Bazar early Saturday, reports UNB.

The arrestee is Mahaat Amin, 18, son of Md Kalu of the Balukhali Block C-15 Rohingya camp.

Confirming the matter, senior assistant director (media) of RAB-15, Abu Salam Chowdhury said during primary investigation arrestee Mahaat Amin confessed that he had been involved in illegal yaba trade for a long time.

Earlier, acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB conducted a drive in the area around 12:50 pm and arrested Mahaat Amin along with the yaba pills, he added.

However, some others managed to flee the scene.

Legal action is in process to be taken against Mahaat, the RAB official added.
