Scientist murder: Mastermind among 2 detained in city

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Monday arrested two people including the mastermind in connection with the murder of the former chief scientific officer of Bangladesh Wheat and Maize Research Institute (BWMRI), from Gabtoli bus stand in the city.

The detainees are Mohamamd Saiful Islam, 26 and Zakir Hossian, 37, mastermind in the killing incident.

Tipped off, a team of RAB-2 conducted a drive in Gabtoli area and detained them on Sunday night.

On 11 November, Anwar Shaheed, 72, was stabbed to death by an attacker in city’s Shyamoli area.

Ferdous Sultana, sister of the victim lodged a case at Adabar police station.
