Three private university students sent to jail in LSD drug case

A Dhaka court on Saturday sent to jail three private university students in a case lodged over the first ever seizure of LSD (Lysergic Acid Diethylamide) drug in the history of Bangladesh, reports state-run news agency BSS.

The accused are -- North-South University (NSU) students Sadman Sakib Rupol and Ashab Wadud Turjo and Independent University of Bangladesh (IUB) student Adin Ashraf.

The court of Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Nivana Khayer Jessy passed the order as police produced the three before the court after completion of their five-day remand in the case and pleaded to keep them behind bars till the end of probe in the case.

Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Baki Billah on 30 May had placed the three on five-day remand each in the case.

Police on 26 May arrested the accused and claimed to have seized 200 LSD blotter papers from their possessions.
