Three teenagers beaten up in Jashore juvenile development centre

Three adolescents have allegedly been beaten up at the juvenile development centre in Jashore, officials have said.

The injured were rushed to Jashore General Hospital.

The incident took place over a dispute for establishing supremacy at the centre on Monday afternoon.

The three injured are from Pirojpur, Bogura and Faridpur. They were sent to the juvenile development centre by the court in murder and kidnapping cases.

According to the injured and the juvenile development centre authorities, a teenager was beaten up by a group over a dispute for establishing supremacy in the centre around 8:00pm on Sunday.

Two others were also beaten up as they tried to stop them. Upon receiving the news, the officials of the centre went there, rescued the injured and rushed them to hospital.

Zakir Hossain, supervisor of the juvenile centre, said upon receiving the news of the scuffle that broke out between two groups, they went there and rescued the injured and admitted them to hospital.

He, however, could not confirm the reason for the scuffle between the two groups. The matter is being investigated, Zakir added.
