Written complaint filed against Murad Hasan under DSA

A former Dhaka University (DU) student has lodged a complaint against the former state minister for Information Murad Hasan at Shahbagh police station under the Digital Security Act (DSA), reports UNB.

Julius Caesar Talukder, former general secretary (GS) of DU’s Salimullah Muslim Hall Chhatra League unit, filed the case on Tuesday.

The complaint states, a video clip of Murad Hasan on social media contained perverted sexual and hate speech. In the video, Murad had clearly undermined the image of Dhaka University.

He also made derogatory remarks regarding female students who are residents of Ruqayyah Hall and Shamsun Nahar Hall of the university, it said.

Julius Caesar Talukder said Murad Hasan’s speech was against women’s participation in politics and social activities. "It is the responsibility of all citizens to maintain fine line when it comes to commenting on the character of another citizen," he stated.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Shahbagh police station, Maudut Hawlader, told the news agency, "We have already received a complaint in writing."

As the complaint falls under the DSA, the complaint will be transferred to the Cyber Crime Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police. Action will be taken as per their instructions, he said
