2 detained over killings of four members of a family in Rangpur

Police have detained two people in connection with the recovery of the bodies of a former teacher of Rangpur Zilla School, his wife and their two children from a house in Machuapara in Rangpur city. They were detained in the early hours of Sunday.

The detainees are Siddhartha Das, 23, and Mugdha Das, 19. They were detained from Dakhiganj cremation ground in Rangpur city. Both are residents of Machuapara. Police said they are known drug users in the area.

Rangpur CID Police Inspector Abu Hasan Kabir confirmed the detention of the two.

On Saturday night, the bodies of Ganapati Chakraborty, 65, his wife Pritilata Chakraborty, 50, daughter Agami Chakraborty, 25, and son Ayush Chakraborty, 13, were recovered from their home in the Machuapara area of Kamal Kachna in Rangpur city.
