Eminent journalist Riaz Uddin Ahmed passes away

Jatiya Press Club's former president and renowned senior journalist Riaz Uddin Ahmed passed away at a city hospital this afternoon after being infected with Covid-19 at the age of 76.

Ahmed, the Ekushey Award winning eminent journalist, breathed his last at the United Hospital in the city around 1:30pm, press club's general secretary Elias Khan said.

He is survived by a son, a daughter and a host of relatives and admirers. Ahmed, also former president of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ), was infected with Covid-19 several days ago. Later, he was admitted to the United Hospital as his oxygen level dropped.

Then, he had been shifted to the hospital's Intensive Care Unit (ICU). His namaz-e-janaza will be held on the press club premises at 11:00am tomorrow.
