The United Nations (UN) resident coordinator in Bangladesh Mia Seppo has urged the government to ensure the protection of minorities.

She demanded an impartial probe over the recent attacks on Hindus.

Seppo came up with this demand on Monday in a post on Twitter. She is the first diplomat who gave reactions over recent violence among the foreign diplomats in Dhaka.

“Recent attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh fueled by hate speech on social media, are against the values of the constitution and need to be stopped. We call upon the government to ensure protection of minorities and an impartial probe.”

In this post, the diplomat called upon the people to join hands to strengthen inclusive tolerant Bangladesh.

Miscreants attacked, vandalised, and looted scores of Hindu houses, shops and Puja mandaps in different districts of the country.
