Ex-army chief Aziz’s US visa revoked

Former Chief of Army Staff general (retd) Aziz Ahmed

US authorities have revoked the visa of Bangladesh’s former army chief General (retd) Aziz Ahmed.

Multiple sources confirmed that the authorities recently informed the immediate past army chief of the decision through a letter.

Asked about the matter, the spokesperson of the US embassy told Prothom Alo on Sunday, "Visa related information is confidential under US law. We do not comment on any individual visa cases."

After serving for three years as the Army chief of Bangladesh, Aziz went on retirement on 24 June. Before taking the army's helm, Aziz was Quarter Master General (QMG) of army headquarters. He was also General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Mymensingh cantonment and director general of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) from 2012 to 2016.
