Family plans to fly Nasim to Singapore

Family members of ailing Awami League (AL) presidium member Mohammed Nasim has been trying to take him to Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore for further treatment, BSS reports.

“Necessary papers have already been sent to Singapore and discussion is going on with the high commission of Bangladesh and foreign ministry,” AL office secretary Barrister Biplob Barua told BSS.

Nasim, also the spokesperson of the 14-party alliance, has been tested negative for coronavirus for the third time today but his condition remains unchanged.

“Mohammad Nasim is still unconscious and his condition remains unchanged,” said his personal secretary Ashraful Alam Mintu.

Earlier, on Monday the medical board, which was formed over his treatment, took the decision that Mohammad Nasim will be kept under life support at the incentive care unit.

Nasim underwent an urgent brain surgery at the Bangladesh Specialized Hospital on 5 June.

On 1 June, Nasim was admitted to Bangladesh Specialised Hospital with COVID-19 symptoms, including fever and cold.

He later tested positive for COVID-19 and was rushed into surgery on 5 June after suffering a brain haemorrhage.
