Benazir Ahmed appointed as new IGP

The government on Wednesday appointed Benazir Ahmed, director general of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP).

The home ministry issued a notification in this regard, reports news agency UNB.

Benazir Ahmed will replace M Javed Patwary.

Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, Additional Inspector General of Criminal Investigation Department (CID), has been made new chief of RAB, the notification added.

As per the notification, their appointment will come into effect on 15 April.
