Expatriates' welfare and overseas employment minister Imran Ahmad on Thursday said COVID-19 negative report will be compulsory for only those Bangladeshi passengers whose destination foreign countries would require it, reports UNB.

He came up with the remarks at an inter-ministry meeting over expatriate Bangladeshis.

Corona-negative certificate was compulsory for all foreign bound commuters which has been partially corrected, now it is mandatory for only passengers to the countries that are seeking it, he said.

“But general health examination of all passengers at airport must be strengthened,” he said.

Many suitable and practical steps were taken from the expatriates' welfare and overseas employment ministry for assisting expatriates in reintegration, returning back home and providing relief and increasing awareness to fight against COVID-19, UNB quoted him as saying.

A decision was taken regarding necessary technical and specialist assistance from health service division for operating the selected diagnostic centres properly, Ahmad said.
